I've thumb-nailed out a little story with them, I just need some time to go over it some more.
I'll be sharing a table with the great Amy Mebberson at the Long Beach Comic Con, November 23-24. I'll have some prints, books, and hopefully some sketchcards, but I don't know how much time I'll have before then to make new ones.
The frog is Gorf and the witch is Tricky, if anyone wanted to know.
Tried to livestream this, but my computer would lag anytime I'd pick a new color/brush and add a new layer, so it's not the whole process. There's a music playlist though.
So Mr. Chris Battle has tagged me for a Kreative Blogger award, which is silly, but a good way to pimp out some friends! In turn, I have to nominate seven other bloggers, and then list seven weird things about myself. So here goes:
I have some creepy friends! :O Now seven useless things about me.
1. I use the mouse backwards. Everyone who uses the computer after me hates me when I do this. 2. Eyeballs creep me out. 3. I wanted to be either a marine biologist or an animator when I was little. Then I realized that drawing dolphins was pretty fun, and that took care of that decision. 4. I used to teach pottery classes to grade schoolers when I was in high school. 5. My Dad really does grow potatoes for a living. 6. I'm mildly allergic to cats, but I don't care. 7. I didn't realize Walt Disney was dead until I was about 10. I'm still stupid.
Oh, real quick! I've been listening to Eisley again. Every song they sing is lovely.
OMG! I drew something other than work and book stuff! Drawn on tiny post it, jpg is twice the original size. Actually, probably the only drawing made since August that wasn't for a deadline, book project, or wedding stuff. I need to make a new film so I can draw some new characters, instead of milking one dimensional Tricky and Gorf. OH! "Love Shine" recently got tagged by Sony on youtube. They haven't deleted yet, but they did stick an ad/direct link to iTunes/Amazon for buying the mp3. Which I'm perfectly fine with and encourage. Next couple of cartoons I make will hopefully have original music. In the meantime, the film is also still up on Vimeo.
So.....a couple of good friends are getting married on Halloween! Costumes, candy, cake, videogames, dancing, friends, it's going to be heaven, on Halloween! X3 I made artwork for their invites, but no posting here, because it is special and gothy! In the meantime, here's some fanart from friends since I have nothing to show! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!
FANARTZ from NON FLOUNDERZ!!! These are by a nice fellow on deviantart calling himself Meowtwo. Here's his cool artsy stuff http://meowtwo.deviantart.com
This was made by my friend Valerie, who is now married, to friend Roger. She will probably be mad at me now, but I don't think she ever comes here so she won't know anyway. She also needs to update her blog, but since she is an insane boarding/dictator/wife person, she has less time than I do. Look at her few cute stuffs at kia9000.blogspot.com
Here is a bday present for a friend. His name is Professor Tibbles. He is an intelligent kitty.
Thanks everyone for the nice compliments on "Love Shine". I hope more people will try making their own films. The hardest thing to do is find the time, second is dealing with computer troubles, but alot of the fun is getting through problems and actually seeing it come together. It was really nostalgic to be spending time on a film, I really enjoyed making them in school, and hopefully can make some with my friends in the future. It is good to know that it can be done without having to work at a fancy studio, although that would be nice. What work I had gotten last year, most I couldn't post. It feels good to be able to have something to show for the past year, no matter how crude it is. I can at least keep animation as a hobby, no matter what happens. Never going to make another minute and a half short in two weeks again. That was REALLY STUPID! I did not sleep, and got a huge knot in my back that hurts! Also the pay is horrible! Here is some stuffs, since some people wanted to know how I put it together. "Love Shine" sketches and oddities, andframe grabs for anyone into that sort of thing.
Here is the animatic I used as a guide. I did make some chicken scratch thumbnails in my sketchbook first. Then I drew it in Photoshop, dumped it in Premiere, and dumped it in Flash as a guide. It's pretty gross, but it's an easy way to keep on track. Hopefully it doesn't offend any board artists that actually know what they are doing.
Here are a bunch of random videos, because it is 2009.
Those two holidays are getting too close together, or maybe I'm just getting senile. I tried making the most annoying, girly Halloween cartoon I could, but was busy with a bunch of dumb crap. I got back to it this week. Here it is. I uploaded it to Vimeo, which is 1000000x better quality than pooptube. No dropped frames and blurry bgs, and you can download the quicktime file there for your own portable devices.
Horrible random facts: Flash with wacom tablet. Like drawing with a giant melted crayon, on a cookie sheet, with my feet. Two full weeks of work, off and on. Hallucinated my tea cup was wiggly from lack of sleep. The version on my computer actually has easy to read backgrounds. The story still doesn't make any sense though, or fix timing and 180 problems. Poor computer is old and I'm amazed it was able to handle this, barely. My flight home for Xmas has been cancelled three times the last 24 hours. I was able to finish editing because that happened. My stomach hurts. I'm being to negative. But I had sushi with Clio! HA HA HA HA HA HA HAAAA!!!! MERRY HOLIDAY SUPER WEEK EVERYBODY!!!
(Konami please don't sue me!) ___________________________________________________ --------------------------------------------------- One of my friends produced a cd for Child's Play, an organization that raises money for children's hospitals. You can preview tracks and order it HERE ---------------------------------------------------
Here is Skippy's costume. He likes to wear it and finds it very comfortable. He's supposed to be a cowboy. He likes to wear the hat hanging back, because it bugs his ears otherwise.
I cleaned up my balcony garden last weekend. It is still pretty hot in LA. Looking forward to sweaters and hot cocoa soon!! Come back this Friday. There may or may not be another Halloween Trick or Treat, depending on asthma and overall business doing stuff for other people. I'll do my darndest to finish on time though. It will be full of crack.
