Fly me to the moon

I drew these for a friend's recent birthday. She collects some of the toys, so I thought these might be nice for her depressed children collection. Staying up drawing these brought back alot of memories from art school. It's funny, alot of people assume all we watched were "The Jungle Book" and Nine old men animation, but we were introduced to "Evangelion" end of our freshman year in 1999. A group of us borrowed the complete series from a friend and watched all the episodes in less than a week. The next fall, we watched "End of Evangelion", and the nerds debated what the whole thing meant. One of our story teachers used to bring clips in from the anime for various examples. There is some amazing animation in the show, and alot of media references it nowadays.
Gainax is producing four movies retelling the story, the first one was released in Japan not too long ago. Here is the first trailer and the second trailer for "Rebuild of Evangelion". I think WETA may still be working on a live action movie based on "Evangelion". Good luck to them if they are, they have a huge task in front of them.

Grape Babies

There is a fundraiser for Soren Rogers at Monkey House Toys in Silver Lake, CA this Saturday night!
Soren is a little boy who has had to deal with many seizures in his life so far, and his family needs some help getting a very expensive wheelchair lift on their van. The fundraiser is this Saturday, Jan. 19th, from 5-9pm. There is going to be a ton of amazing artwork, food, drinks, so if you are in the area, please stop by! Also, if you'd like to contribute to the fund, but can't make it to town, you can donate at Soren's website.

Here is my late piece down below. It's small and colored on brown fancy recycled paper which makes it look weird. Scary Grape babies getting a bedtime story. It was drawn outside of a coffee shop. So it smells like caffiene, car exhaust, and marker fumes. Don't ya want to buy it?

A few weeks ago a couple of my friends got the "Gunbuster vs Diebuster" dvds. We had a geeky drawing party and ate beard papas. They started out as bad sketches, and then the markers took over, like a horrible virus. Look at the disgusting Nicola head, floating in space for no reason. Everyone has really long monkey arms. Barf.

Speaking of horrible viruses, I saw "I am Legend". It would be cool to be a zombie.
Barf.

I found some Gunbuster videos.
Here is the trailer for "Gunbuster vs Diebuster".
This is an amv someone made with "Gunbuster 2", it's spoiler heavy, so don't watch it if you don't like being spoiled.

"Believe in me who believes in you!"

Busy as always. Time to draw, no time to scan. I won't be busy in December.

No more bad fan art after this, promise!
"Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann" just finished in Japan. It is really good. Hopefully the dvd's are released here soon. The robot is drawn way to small, wonky. Robots are hard to draw!
Watching this stuff is really inspiring.
Hopefully more stuff will start up here soon.
Ahh pooooooop.

***Thanks for all the nice comments lately, I read them, I just suck with keeping up with anything outside of hygiene and work lately.***

Nono Friday

I finished watching "Gunbuster 2", and I felt sad for Nono. So she gets cintiq drawing.
She was designed by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto.
