Starshine

New portfolio front page? The background scanned weird. The black sharpie used for some of the space reflected back at the scanner.

In space, no one can hear you scream.

Abby is leaving town tomorrow for a new big important job. Last week we hung out with a bunch of friends. These were her suggestions on where to have a friend's wedding. We'll miss you Abby! Hooray for email! (these drawings suck!)

Alabaster 2.0

Saturday was crazy!!
I got to go to a birthday/going away party, but two of my friends got engaged before the party so at dinner there was alot of free ice cream and the restuarant made them wear funny hats! I took photos of the people wearing the hats, but if I posted them they wouldn't be my friends anymore. Everyone is becoming an adult. WOW! It's weird I've known these people for at least ten years, when we would have NERF wars, stay up all night in the computer lab trying not to cry, getting lost in LA.... times haven't changed much. Maybe they aren't adults, yet.

Someone emailed me wanting an Alabaster drawing. So here is some weirdness 'cause I didn't reference the old drawing like I should have.

Went and saw "Cloverfield" Saturday too. I think the monster's name should be "Cookie Pie". He should have also looked like a giant cookie/pie ice cream eared puppy monster. Alabaster isn't the smartest cookie it seems.

If Cookie Pie bites her, she's totally going to 'splode. Lactose intolerance.

That day with the hearts, chocolates, roses, and diseases...

This is poo poo.

Things that happened last three weeks.
1. Lost a whole week of doing freelance from horrible obnoxious chest cold. Still sound like the coughing lady from "Mad TV". Got to watch season 2 of "Avatar" though, slept alot. Not a complete waste.
2. Apartment manager remodeled my bathroom. Lost half a week of that 'cause apartment was full of cancerous fumes.
3. Someone may have been trying to steal my lowbeams off my car. Spending tomorrow getting that fixed.
4. Crashed the Annies. Drank their wine, ate their food, and watched their cartoons. Left before the three bears showed up.
5. Had dinner with friends last night. Britney Spear's paparazzi boyfriend was sitting behind us being an ass, so we got no service. What a bunghole. Stop ruining good restuarants!
6. Finished my freelance list plus some. If you haven't gotten stuff yet, give me until midnight. SRSLY.

7. Jeaux over at Frederator emailed me to submit something for their current contest. Had less than a day to animate something. Here is the development art and film. Go here to see the rest of the submitions and vote for who will win a PINK Nintendo DS.... >:D

Super Star Sprinkle Asthma Attack GO!!

All hopped up on Albuterol and Nyquil, hot dog water of the demons, as opposed to Ambrosia, nectar of the Gods.
Here is some important stuff:

1.The fund raiser for Soren Rogers went really well, and they are having a party for the last night of the gallery show. It's still at Monkey House Toys in Silverlake, CA, on Saturday, February 2nd, at 3pm. I think they may still be accepting donations and more artwork for the final event.

2.It's almost time for Innerspark applications if any highschool student is interested in going. It's alot of fun, you learn ALOT in a month, you get to use actual animation equipment, eat gross Calarts food, order pizza from Ameci's instead and make the delivery guys mad when they don't get their huge tip, go to museums, studios, guest speakers, radda, radda, and etc... Anyway, applications are due February 29th.

My lungs are full of gunk. It's disgusting. I couldn't focus on anything all day, but I had to sit still. Yay for asthma!!! Colors.....

A couple of days ago I finally discovered the "Yu-Gi-Oh: Abridged Series". There are currently 26 eps. Now it all makes sense...

That song that sounds like Aqua...

You know the one.

I am sick today. Bedtime. Maybe I'll post something with effort, heart, and the right number of fingers later. Maybe.

Grape Babies

There is a fundraiser for Soren Rogers at Monkey House Toys in Silver Lake, CA this Saturday night!
Soren is a little boy who has had to deal with many seizures in his life so far, and his family needs some help getting a very expensive wheelchair lift on their van. The fundraiser is this Saturday, Jan. 19th, from 5-9pm. There is going to be a ton of amazing artwork, food, drinks, so if you are in the area, please stop by! Also, if you'd like to contribute to the fund, but can't make it to town, you can donate at Soren's website.

Here is my late piece down below. It's small and colored on brown fancy recycled paper which makes it look weird. Scary Grape babies getting a bedtime story. It was drawn outside of a coffee shop. So it smells like caffiene, car exhaust, and marker fumes. Don't ya want to buy it?

A few weeks ago a couple of my friends got the "Gunbuster vs Diebuster" dvds. We had a geeky drawing party and ate beard papas. They started out as bad sketches, and then the markers took over, like a horrible virus. Look at the disgusting Nicola head, floating in space for no reason. Everyone has really long monkey arms. Barf.

Speaking of horrible viruses, I saw "I am Legend". It would be cool to be a zombie.
Barf.

I found some Gunbuster videos.
Here is the trailer for "Gunbuster vs Diebuster".
This is an amv someone made with "Gunbuster 2", it's spoiler heavy, so don't watch it if you don't like being spoiled.

New Year's Baby Stories for Old People

Baby story #1.

My brother recently moved into a new apartment. He went to the Seattle Ikea, and said there was a wee child pushing a cart. The wee child was transporting a load in his pants while pushing a cart and there was no way around him. My brother was forced to walk slowly behind the small child. Now he has artwork for his new apartment. I hope it goes in the bathroom.

Baby story #2. (ha ha.... #2....)
Last night, this wee little one was in the seat behind me. He had three other brothers, none that had volume control. His parents were with them, and I know it must be hard to raise alot of boys at once, but the parents had no noise control either. This drawing isn't exaggerated enough.
He was shrieking "PURPLE!", "CRACKAHS!", and many other words for the two hour flight. Other passengers had the stewardess bring ear plugs. Drawing the monster baby was better for me. I've never been on a flight were people clapped when they got off. The weird part of the story was that Chris Kattan was sitting one seat away from me on the flight. I didn't realize it was him until my friend picked me up from the airport and said "Hey, that's Chris Kattan." Maybe he will use this demon baby in a future skit. I hope so, that family was insane.

Baby Story #3.
A baby I know is turning one tonight! She is a good baby too! Happy Birthday Sweet Pea! Don't marry these babies in the future!

Christmas Eve in Bunny Town

It is that time of the year, again, where one gets to travel through airports hopeful that eventually they'll make it to their destination. Most of the time, the flight from Seatac to the eastside of the state gets cancelled, and I get to live there until someone picks me up. But not this year! This year will be different!
Hooray for little brothers getting jobs in Seattle! YAY!!
Here are some pre Christmas photos, and some photos from my work. OOoo animation mysteries....

Here is "Randy the Hip Hop Bear". I saw him at the Mervyn's store in Burbank. He is horrible.

Camera phone is poopy. It will be replaced soon.

My brain broke itself.

I'm going to have the stuff I am supposed to be doing finished soon, promise. My work got extended a few more weeks, which is good for me at least.

If you hate anime, maybe don't bother clicking on the links.
Video Time
(Thanks to Jeff Chuang for letting me know about this.)
People have been compiling animation made by specific artists and uploading them to youtube. People have been IDing scenes with their Disney and Warner animators for years. I just thought it was interesting that there are compilations of some of the
Gainax/Ghibli/Madhouse/etc. animators. Search for "MAD", and that will bring up tons of stuff, although not all of the videos seem to be specific to one animator.
There is alot of kicking and punching.
Hiroyuki Imaishi animation reel
"Namco X Capcom" op by Production I.G.
I think the guy above might have directed this, but I can't find any confirmation of that.

You Yoshinari reel
Tetsuya Nishio reel

...and here is some stuff that's just cool.
Skateboard + Balloons
Persian Kitten Army
"Merbabies" is creepy, and cute. I used to watch it alot.
"Pick up all the trash, put it in the bag, BUMP! BUMP!"

Little random post-its from the last few weeks. Drawing hasn't been working lately, these crude little warm ups help a little.
(fixed: Weird they were showing up for a couple of days and blogger somehow lost them.)

Turkey Warrior

Thursday is Thanksgiving here in the USA. It is a day we give thanks. Thankful that we can be with friends and family, eat to much food, and go to sleep at 4pm. We are even more thankful, because when the pilgrims first settled here, they had to fight a great war against giant turkeys. Lucky for us they won. It was hard, but if some of the pilgrims hadn't been able to tame and domesticate some of the turkeys, all would have been lost. Since that time, it was discovered the turkeys were quite delicious, so we don't use them in turkey jousts anymore. Here are some videos reenacting some of the turkey battles.

Please help save the chickens of Othello, WA

My hometown is in a video competition to get an MRI machine for the hospital. They don't have one. One comes every Thursday on a truck, if you need a scan any other day, you can drive an hour to the next nearest hospital. This time of year can be bad, roads get shut down and make it hard to travel. The people in the video work at the same hospital my Mom works. Check out the site, there are alot of other small town hospitals in the competition. Please vote! You can vote once a day from the same computer. Scroll down to find the video.

"Almost Halloweenie" or "Orange U Glad U Can Fly?"

Yay! It's almost time for Halloween!
Boo! Everything is on fire and the sky is dirty!

To get in the mood for Halloween, there are two creepy art shows this weekend.
The Lisa Frank reject is for a show at the "It's a Grind" coffee shop in Diamond Bar this Saturday. 'Cause beatnik zombies like their brains caffeinated.

The other art show is in Culver City, Oct. 26th, at the"Wonderful World Art Gallery".
Artsy sisters Miss Mindy and CJ Metzger will have stuffs there, and there are supposed to be some original "Nightmare Before Christmas" storyboards on display there too.

I am going to miss both shows, I am too sleepy and I'm going to see a "Cirque De Soliel" show for the first time this weekend. YAY!

It is a busy week, but super fun. Animating, coloring, turning stuff, playing with fancy shmancy computers, eating frozen yogurt! It's even better working on stuff with friends! Woot! And I have family visiting!

Squeam. It's Monday.

Squeam is a little annoying creature that was living in my apartment recently. I was lucky enough to get some candid photos of him, before he was disposed by Skippy. Here he is!
  • Now I can sleep at night, since the screaming has stopped.

Here are some oooold post it drawings, sketchbook cover, and viking inspired by a Dove chocolate wrapper. Yay.

    She has giant man hands.

"Believe in me who believes in you!"

Busy as always. Time to draw, no time to scan. I won't be busy in December.

No more bad fan art after this, promise!
"Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann" just finished in Japan. It is really good. Hopefully the dvd's are released here soon. The robot is drawn way to small, wonky. Robots are hard to draw!
Watching this stuff is really inspiring.
Hopefully more stuff will start up here soon.
    Ahh pooooooop.

***Thanks for all the nice comments lately, I read them, I just suck with keeping up with anything outside of hygiene and work lately.***

    Quilt

Here is my block for the quilt Amy Wolfram is making. The theme is superheros so I drew a random super villian. The top one is fabric paint, the scanner made the colors super weird, but they were weird already. I am messy. Boooo....
"Cheshire" is owned by a giant company. Not me.

Return from the Land of Monsters

....or the land of busy Bree.

Sorry, haven't been around last few weeks. Currently catching up with old email this week. Been SUPER busy with work, freelance, and stuff that can't be posted. Have come to the conclusion that I can't really go more than a couple of days without sleep like in college. Stomach flu has been going around at work, haven't caught it yet, but had a nasty cold, and sneezed all over alot of people, Skippy, and guinea pigs.
So the last couple of days of free time I was trying to draw monsters. Somehow it turned into a group of people living in a land of monsters, and apparantly there is some sort of drama. And a little monster with a backwards baseball cap. I guess doodling isn't much different than a kid playing with their toys making up stories. Ahiru/Duck (girl with the reddish braid) is from "Princess Tutu". I drew her first 'cause I was seeing if I could draw her on model, but her hands are jacked up,her head is way too big, and her legs need to be straighter. Almost just drew over her, but it was too fun coloring everything. Ramble ramble ramble...

    Back to monsters...

A bunch of my friends have had babies recently. Congrats on the newest baby boy! Another friend's baby is turning one this weekend, congrats to you too baby. Make sure to drink lots of milk with those edible crayons.
All of the babies I know are cute and happy. They are not greasy babies. The greasy babies were drawn during a phone conversation with a friend, and the topic was "everyone is having a baby!".

Hey, this is what my computer has been doing to me lately. Is it a graphic card problem? Everything else works fine, and it's not like this all the time. It goes away after twenty minutes or so. Poor Dell is five years old. I have been cheating on him with my manly Cintiq at work. Poor guy.

    Things that are going on:
